Order of Friars Minor Conventual
We are known as Conventual Franciscan Friars. The word "friar" means brother and so, we are brothers to each other. We try to live
and to exemplify brotherhood, humility and simplicity which are part of our charism in the Church. Our Order is a religious community
began by St.Francis of Assisi, Italy, in 1209. We are members of the mother branch of the Order and we came to be known as "Friars
of the Community." Today, we are called Conventual Franciscans.Sometimes you will see our identifying initial "OFM Conv." which means
Order of Friars Minor Conventual. After almost 800 years in vibrant existence, we are still present all over the world as an international
community. To learn more about them...
